National Women’s Business Council Provides Federal Procurement Resource in Spanish Web Site Translation Offers Support for Hispanic Women Business Owners Seeking Federal Contracts
Washington, DC – The National Women’s Business Council (NWBC) today announced the launch of a Spanish language version of its web site, www.womenbiz.gov , to assist Hispanic women business owners with federal government contracting. The web site, www.womenbiz.gov/espanol, provides valuable information and tips specifically targeted to women-owned businesses.
The National Women’s Business Council offers this resource for Hispanic women business owners interested in federal procurement opportunities. With links to many other government procurement resources, the new version of womenbiz.gov serves as a first stop for Spanish-speaking women business owners interested in doing business with the federal government.
“WomenBiz.Gov is an excellent resource to help Hispanic women business owners obtain contracts with the Federal Government,” stated Maria Taxman, Board Member of the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and former NWBC member. “This web site offers valuable links, recommendations and useful insights that assist us in our efforts to increase our sales to the Federal sector.”
The Small Business Administration Office of Advocacy reports that, as of the 2002, women owned 22% of Hispanic employer firms and 36% of Hispanic non-employer firms. According to the Center for Women’s Business Research, between 1997 and 2006 the number of Hispanic women-owned firms increased by over 120% and sales grew by 33%. Firms majority-owned by Hispanic women now represent nearly 10 percent of all majority women-owned firms in the United States.
“Government contracts can be a great source of business revenue for both new and established businesses,” explained NWBC Executive Director Margaret Barton. “The National Women’s Business Council is proud to offer the Spanish translation of Womenbiz.gov to help Hispanic women business owners understand the government procurement process and learn how to navigate it successfully.”
