WELCOME TO THE PREMIER LATINA BUSINESS ORGANIZATION
Established in August of 2004, the Sacramento Chapter of the National Latina Business Women Association (NLBWA-SAC) was created by a group of business women and community leaders to meet the needs of the growing ranks of Latina Entrepreneurs, Executives and Professionals. This group of Latinas account for the fastest growing segment of small business in the United States:
• Hispanic women-owned Businesses number 857,782, employ 418,518 individuals and generate $67 billion in sales nationwide.1
• Between 1997 and 2006, the number of majority-owned firms (ownership >51%) owned by Hispanic women increased 121.3 %, to 856,782, and the number of employees increased 18.6% while sales climbed by more than 33%.1
• Latinas control 36.9% of all Hispanic-owned firms. Hispanic women-owned firms employ 16.2% of the workers in all Hispanic-owned firms and generate 17.0% of the sales.1
• California leads the way with the greatest number of Hispanic-owned firms in the nation. The 427,000 Hispanic-owned firms represent 15% of the total businesses in the state.2
Our mission is to encourage Latinas to develop their business and professional goals through education, business referrals and networking. NLBWA is a results driven organization which has taken feedback from its membership to design a unique organizational model that addresses fundamentals of business in a professional turnkey environment that is conducive to proactive learning. These fundamentals include infrastructure, leadership and skill development. NLBWA has developed a variety of business programs for its membership which include:
• Monthly membership meetings
• Annual Business Symposium
• Emerging Latinas
• Latina Financial Group
NLBWA-Sacramento has formed partnerships with Wells Fargo and UCDavis, among others. NLBWA-SAC has been featured in articles in the Sacramento Bee, Prosper Magazine, Univision 19, Que Buena 97.9FM, Magia 94.3 FM, Super Estrella 104.3 FM, and V-101FM.
